COMPASS vision: More scientists engage, and engage effectively, in the public discourse about the environment. We achieve this vision through: Training/Coaching scientists to be better communicators: For more than a decade, we’ve coached and trained thousands of scientists from multiple disciplines, institutions, and career stages to be more effective communicators, finding the relevance of their Bringing scientists into the conversation: We create opportunities for scientists to personally connect with journalists, policymakers, and even other scientists – brokering relationships so scientists can share insights at relevant times with relevant audiences. Target audience will be scientists we train and work with and foundations that support us.
What's your vision?
We’re looking for a simple environmental line design element (not a logo) to use throughout our organizations’ materials (it should NOT include the name COMPASS). Using only our colors in the attached branding doc, use at least three- light blue, dark orange or light orange, dark green or light green- & design an abstract landscape scene evoking elements such as the mountains, grasslands, and the ocean, that complements our current logo and theory of change design (and will look good on a black background, for example in our slides). Please see attached "designs" for our idea sketched. We are interested in playing with the lines “intersecting” as we often describe our work as connecting across audiences and topics. This design will be used as a divide between images and titles on keynote/powerpoint slides (see attached Slide Example), as an element on letterheads, our business cards, and potentially our website. This design is not intended to be a logo that includes our name. We do a number of talks and trainings, utilizing 100s of slides: our current slide design element does not match our look and feel and we would like to integrate all elements of our brand and bring an environmental aspect into this design. We like elegant, simple, modern. We focus on scientists and communications, but scientists that study the environment; we are interested in bringing an element of the environment to our design but we are not an environmental advocacy organization. Thank you!
Our website (http://www.compassonline.org/), our theory of change with our style of icons and imagery (design should complement this style), a slide with our old line design that we want to replace (green, blue, yellow) and a sketch design idea are uploaded. The slide example should provide context for the general size and shape of what we're looking for. The document "designs" is an initial sketch of what we have envisioned this design looking like.
