We provide communication software services for homeowner associations and our clients are primarily the property management companies that manage HOAs. Our web application creates a social environment for homeowners that reaches out to them through Facebook, email, mobile app, and mailbox. The concept is similar to nextdoor.com except that the HOA will have control over the application so that they have a good avenue to communicate to homeowners.
What's your vision?
This is to be the first of at least 6 illustrations that will be displayed on our homepage. The illustration for this contest will represent the phrase "Requires Proactive Users". (See the attached homepage wireframe for more information.) This phrase means is that our competitors require their users to be proactive, which is bad because homeowners are rarely proactive about their HOA. Hence they may never see the information. Homeowners don't want to work at all for this information. Feel free to be creative here. maybe you you can just illustrate an uninterested user. Or you can try and represent the entire concept of "Requires Proactive Users" (probably more difficult but might be the best option if you can figure it out). CRITICAL: The illustration must be 1) simple, 2) colorful, 3) quickly understood, and 3) have a touch of fun. Otherwise please be creative! Overall we want our site to be professional. It will be mostly gray tones. But I want these illustrations to contrast with that grayness, grab their attention and bring out just a bit of excitement. Udpates: 5/19/2013: I have included an example of an image that I think is really close to working well on the homepage. 5/20/2013: Just uploaded a file with 3 concepts that I think represent the idea of "Requires Proactive Users" well. No need to stick to any of these ideas if you think you can do it better (that's why I'm here). But maybe it will get your wheels turning. 5/21/2013: Just uploaded another file with 4 examples of more professional styles that are closer to what I'm looking for. While I love the cartoon style that Daivat and The Bird have done I think they need to move closer to the examples in this file in order to fit what we're looking for. 5/22/2013: Uploaded a hybrid of Daivat's last two concepts. I think that something like this is really close. Just need some expression on the faces and maybe a few other things to make it obvious what the people are doing.
The winner will likely have the opportunity to design the rest our homepage illustrations (at least 5).
