Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We represent a client in Cody, Wyoming requiring an illustration done for its museum. The museum, which is currently in the process of being redesigned, will tell the story of the settlement of Wyoming's Big Horn Basin and the development of a 37-mile long canal.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
We need a simplified illustration of a team of horses (preferably a four-horse team) pulling what is known as a "Fresno Slip Scraper". This tool was key in the building of the Sidon Canal in northern Wyoming in 1900. The item must be appropriate for inclusion on a website, signage for the museum and potential collateral (rack cards, stationery, booklets, etc.) A silhouette style is preferred, but non-silhouette entries will be considered. At least one person should be featured in the illustration, as teams of horses were "driven" by men who walked behind the team of horses holding reins attached to harnesses. Clothing of the time period (aka United States 1900) would be long pants, a long-sleeved shirt and a hat.
Although information on the site is also being reworked, the existing website telling more about the museum and a mural housed within the same building can be found at http://codymural.com/.
Sample photographs are attached to this brief showing two- and four-horse slip scrapers. The existing site logo with the current handcart illustration is included, as is a photo of a bronze sculpture currently on displays of a four-horse slip scraper with pioneers on/around it. This bronze is likely too busy to effectively use as a template, but does show some of the detail of a slip scraper et al.
