Here at 99designs, we offer a regular series of Community Contests to help you build your portfolio, improve your skills and have some fun while receiving direct feedback from 99designs staff. We can’t wait to see what you create next!

What is your happy place? What places, objects and memories always brighten up your day? As the whole world learns to work remotely together for the first time, we want to help them get started in style. Zoom is a popular video conferencing platform that allows users to upload their own virtual background images during video chats. We’re looking for custom Zoom background illustrations to inspire everyone’s new online routine. This is your chance to get creative and show off your signature style. Whether you want to design something with a bit of humor, whimsy or elegance… We want to see it all. Don’t forget to explain a bit about your design and why it puts a smile on your face. :-) The winning backgrounds will be shared with our entire community. All winning designers will be required to create a digital Zoom background (specs below), as well as submit a print-ready version of their illustration. - - - - - INSPIRATION Not sure where to start? Here are a few themes to get you started: • Botanical illustrations • Cityscapes and skylines • Cheerful and geometric patterns • Unexpected places (outer space, under the sea) • Your ideal home office • Seasonal settings (summer, spring, fall, winter) • Abstract and expressive design Don't see one you like? Feel free to branch out! - - - - - WHAT TO AVOID Zoom backgrounds must be scaleable, so that even when they’re shrunken down (and a head is blocking most of the screen) we can still appreciate the design. Please avoid designs that are too complex or detailed. We want to be able to appreciate your beautiful work! <3 As always, stock images are not permitted in this contest category.

SPECS DIGITAL VERSION • Format: GIF, JPG/JPEG or 24-bit PNG (no alpha). As always, fonts should be outlined and all linked artwork should be included in the handover.
