Ben Kessler Needs a New Album Cover!

I am a singer/songwriter based in Philadelphia, PA. My music is a combination of folk and soul with an indie feel. My sound is similar to John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Dave Mathews, etc.

I will be releasing my debut, 4-song EP on September 12th titled, “So It Goes”. This will be packaged in a 4-panel eco-wallet, so I kindly ask for a full design with the following: Front album cover, front/inside, back/inside, back cover w/ one spine, and the physical CD. The front cover will be used for all digital sales, as well.

As for the design, I would like something that pertains to the title, “So It Goes”. I feel that this title lends itself to something simple and free flowing. The use of naturally simple, flowing elements, such as waterfalls, spiral staircases, etc., could work quite well. I am no designer nor do I have a gauge as to what does and does not work in the world of design, so please feel free to create something that you see fit. However, I do like the idea of something abstract using the ideas/elements presented above. All this said, please, please, please feel free to interpret the title and this project as you wish! However, please keep in mind that I am looking for something eye-catching, visually appealing and interesting. The rest is up to you.

Attached are some album covers that I enjoy and could see working for this project. I like the uniqueness, simplicity, and effectiveness of each design.

I would not like a brief that is crowded with color and/or text. I would also not like a design that is inconsistent with the title. However, I trust your creative judgement!

As for the layout, I would like the main design to be on the front cover, the liner notes on the front/inside cover, a unique design or picture of sorts on the back/inside, and the track listing to be on the very back cover. It is also important that there be room for a barcode somewhere on the back.

In addition to the designs that I enjoy, I have attached a few pictures, the full liner notes, as well as a few pre-mixed/mastered tracks (without vocals) to give you an idea of the sound of the EP. For the pictures, I would not like my photo on the front cover. If you think that using a photo may work on one of the other flaps, I am open to the idea, just not on the front cover. The audio tracks are also quite rough given that we have yet to record vocals, so please don’t expect much. Given that these are incomplete and unreleased, these files are for your ears only :)
