We’re 99designs’ Community Team. We offer a regular series of Community Contests to help you build your portfolio, improve your skills and have some fun while receiving direct feedback from 99designs staff. We can’t wait to see what you create next! Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPI) is an annual celebration in May that recognizes the historical and cultural contributions of individuals and groups of Asian and Pacific Islander descent to the United States. The AAPI umbrella term includes cultures from the entire Asian continent—including East, Southeast and South Asia—and the Pacific Islands of Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia. Equality, opportunity and celebrating our differences is extremely important to 99designs by Vistaprint, and to achieve this we need to start from within. We would like our employees to be able to celebrate and showcase AAPI Heritage month with their zoom backgrounds.

As we celebrate AAPI (Asian Americas and Pacific Islanders) we want to help them get started in style. Zoom is a popular video conferencing platform that allows users to upload their own virtual background images during video chats. We’re looking for custom Zoom background illustrations to celebrate and inspire AAPI Heritage Month. This is your chance to get creative and celebrate and showcase a love for our differences and cultures. Whether you want to design something more traditional, whimsical or elegant… We want to see it all. Don’t forget to explain a bit about your design and why it puts a smile on your face. :-) The winning backgrounds will be shared internally with all of 99designs and Vistaprint employees. All winning designers will be required to create a digital Zoom background (specs below), as well as submit a print-ready version of their illustration. - - - - - INSPIRATION Not sure where to start? Feel free to branch out! - - - - - WHAT TO AVOID Zoom backgrounds must be scaleable, so that even when they’re shrunken down (and a head is blocking most of the screen) we can still appreciate the design. Please avoid designs that are too complex or detailed. We want to be able to appreciate your beautiful work! <3 As always, stock images are not permitted in this contest category.
