An Alien character.
We need to create a main character for a feature film. It will be an alien. The film is set on present day Earth.
Being a main character in a feature means it cannot be a cartoon character – will need to be photo realistic, able to talk and interact with other characters and environment.
The character needs to be fairly funny, a bit clumsy, pretty cocky, harmless to humans and with a ton of charisma. Think of Bender from Futurama – he’s mean and bad, but everybody loves him.
It is a humanoid race of aliens, has two arms and legs, etc., though different in size and proportions from an average human being.
He is skinny and about 150 cm tall. Since he often has to walk on city streets wearing a hoodie and sunglasses, his skin cannot be gray, green or any other obviously non-terrestrial color. He conceals his alien nature by wearing a teenage outfit (hoodie, gloves, sunglasses and a scarf).
His race is much more advanced that the human race. He considers humans to be second-class beings or even not too smart animals in some cases. Yet, physically he is much weaker than humans. He is a super rational cynic who doesn’t let his emotions out (since they aren’t rational).
On emotional level, the character has to be perceived by the audience as a funny guy, somewhat clumsy, yet focused and having a lot of inner strength. Sort of a character you quickly fall in love with, no matter what. After all, he is a positive character.
Technically, we expect a concept that shows the character in the following ways:
- face and head (can be drawn wearing a hoodie) – no sunglasses, no scarf
- face and head (can be drawn wearing a hoodie) - sunglasses and scarf
- full body, dressed in teenage outfit, including sunglasses and scarf
- full body, naked (no need for genitalia)
The art does not to be highly detailed. We need a talented artist to create the character, so whatever way that allows you do show your idea works for us.
The winner most likely will be offered a contract to work on further concepts for the character (different expressions, poses, etc.).
