LongWeekendLLC ran a icon or button contest and chose a winning design they loved.
We make mobile apps for consumers. We focus on iOS and Android native apps.
We require an eye catching and easily recognizable app icon for a new "Lifestyle Personal Finance" app for iOS.
☆ Visual Design Goals ☆
The visual design of this app is very different from almost every personal finance app in existence today. It looks more like a health / fitness life tracking app than a personal finance app (sorry we can't share screenshots yet).
The concept behind the app's visual design is "your wealth can grow" and "it's a natural, organic thing that grows if you take care of it".
There is a "cute" elephant character in the app. In Asian culture the elephant is seen as a symbol of wisdom, strength, good luck and careful reason. We also want you to include the elephant "somehow" in the design (see requirements below).
Emotionally speaking, the app icon should "feel" natural, organic, friendly, accessible. It should _not_ feel artificial, metallic, gadget-like or cold.
☆ Requirements ☆
❶ A stunning new app icon
❷ Should be based on colors found in "master" or "greens" swatches (attached)
❸ Should in some way use the elephant character found in AI file (attached), you can even repose the character for a better fit
❹ MUST NOT include these visual elements: coins, bank notes, currency symbols, bank buildings, credit cards.
❺ Add your design to http://testico.net and submit the link with your icon (like to see the design on the Springboard too)
☆ Preferred Attributes -- not strictly required ☆
① Natural textures including tree(s), plant(s), wood, leaf(s), stone, earth, sky, etc...
② Minimal visual elements (ideally 2 max, most great icons only have 2)
☆ Delivery Requirements -- if you win! ☆
If you win the competition, congratulations! Please plan to provide your originals in AI or EPS format.
If your finished icon is contained in a PSD file, it needs to be minimum 1024x1024 in size, and it will need it to be based on resolution independent vector layers -- please use layer effects and smart objects where possible, just in case Apple releases even bigger screens one day!
