What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Entertainment & The Arts
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Watch It tells you where you can watch a movie across multiple platforms at any given time whether in theaters, on DVD, on demand or online. In addition, we have a universal queue that allows you to save the movies you want to watch for later, and an alert system that tells you when a film in your queue is available on your preferred services (iTunes, Netflix, Amazon Instant, etc).
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
In addition to our destination website, we have a widget/button that lives on partner websites such as rogerebert.com, variety.com, and elsewhere. The widget provides an expedited experience of our website. It is a split button--Watch It/Queue It. The Watch It portion of the button opens a lightbox which displays the film's availabilities and offers the opportunity for a user to add the movie to his queue without ever leaving the partner website. If a user is logged in through Watch It, he can click the Queue It portion of the button without even opening the lightbox. Some of our partners have modified the button on their sites. Links to examples are provided. In the "assets" portion of the brief. These can be used as inspiration, or the designer can go in a completely different direction. We want to completely rethink this button. Designers are welcome to get creative with the look, feel, language and to an extent, even the functionality of the button. Split buttons, single buttons, or other ideas are all welcome. (Note: At this time we are only looking for button redesign, not lightbox redesign.) The button should be very "clickable" and appealing. It should also be simple and straightforward, and convey what the service does. It should work on multiple backgrounds (white, black or other color sites). Most importantly we want out of the box ideas, that will help drive user interaction with the button and inspire conversions.
We are looking for a fresh approach to this functionality. Go nuts. Here are links to different treatments of our widget which are live on several partner sites. MRQE.com has our standard split button implementation http://www.mrqe.com/movie_reviews/the-avengers-m100058395 Indiewire.com has a single Watch It button: http://www.indiewire.com/film/lovely_molly Tribecafilm.com has a text link http://www.tribecafilm.com/filmguide/2_days_in_new_york-film42808.html
