The contest is for an app icon for our macOS app "Regis", a native Graphical User Interface (GUI) for the Redis database (https://redis.io). It will be sold through the Mac App Store (*not* the iOS app store - this is a "desktop" app, not a mobile one). The name is a bit of a play on words, with the "d" in Redis replaced with a "g" for the GUI, and also a (hopefully!) friendly name to assist users in their tasks.
The deliverables should include the various assets required for a Mac App Icon:
* multiple sizes, described in the Apple link below
* an SVG version of the icon
* a favicon + apple-touch-icon version of the icon
The icon must comply with Apple's design guidelines for Mac App Icon: https://developer.apple.com/library…7-CH87-SW1
It may (but is not required to) be inspired by the Redis icon, as long as it complies with its trademark guidelines: https://redis.io/topics/trademark
The app could be described as:
* minimalist: pure, minimal user interface (not colorful, not many widgets)
* for professionals
* serious (a cartoon-ish icon wouldn't work)
* command-driven (users type a command, get a response)
I don't have specific expectations as to what the icon should look like, other than general ideas about its style: minimalist, modern or classic would work, as mentioned above, serious and light on colors (in the sense of not too many colors).
(note that a contest is also in progress for the Harfang Apps company logo, so I can't show the current company logo as inspiration for the app icon's style)
