We make mobiles games. Our target audience is mostly casual to mid core players in the mobile market.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
We're getting ready to release a game where players battle each other in Mechs (basically two legged robots/tanks) for iOS phones and tablets. We need an app icon designed for the game to represent us in the iOS app store as well as the in-game icon. So, the icon has to look good at 1024x1024, yet still have versions that look good in the various iOS resolutions (like 180x180 all the way down to 29x29).
While the Mech game is dark and broody, this icon from an early game we did is the idea of what I'm hoping for (if not the colors and happy optimistic mood). The penguin in Snow Day looked cute in the game but not as an icon. Our artist re-imagined it for the icon and I think this is possibly one of the better icons out there. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/epi…87798?mt=8
Look at the images I've attached; one of them is just a close up of one of the mechs (which doesn't scale down well and isn't particularly crisp). I've also attached other in-game screen grabs which hopefully convey what the feeling of the game is. While it looks like I'm advocating for a closeup of the mech in icon form, we're open to other innovative ideas; the last time we did this process the winning designer created something we wouldn't known we wanted in advance, so we're open to creativity. The initials for the game are "MR" in case that has an impact on design.
