I've been an independent Mac developer for over twenty years and I design, implement, market and sell my own software. For a lot of this time, I've made Windows versions of some of my most popular Mac application available through cooperation with others.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
We need a new Windows application icon for "Better File Rename 6 for Windows", a Windows batch file renamer. This should be loosely based on the existing icon, which has been around for around 6 years and reflect current Windows icon design trends. We need the icon as a Windows icon resource, but also a higher resolution version for use in marketing materials, in-application artwork and the website. We require the original layered photoshop or illustrator files, so we can fine-tune the icon. The products have long used a "magic white-out/ tippex" metaphor to represent the idea of changing the file name, but other ways of representing the idea are welcome. The Mac version used a green "magic" liquid bottle with an eye dropper icon for version 8 and a purple variation with a "black belt" for version 9. That was a very popular icon and could be adapted for Windows.
The current product website and trial version of Better File Rename is available at: http://www.publicspace.net/windows/BetterFileRename/ This is the Windows version of the more sophisticated A Better Finder Rename 10, available here http://www.publicspace.net/ABetterFinderRename/
