Intermediary - we are not the end client.
What's your vision?
We would like an App Icon designed. Our client is developing an app that is targeted specifically at students, allowing them to track their wellbeing at different points in the year. The app will push notifications during 'tracking' periods or when tasks are to be completed. Students will be able to track their own data but also see information and insight from the app authors about particular trends or insights they have found. The app will be international (UK, Spain, Australia and possibly more) and so this needs to be considered in the design. The App Icon is our primary focus but later we will want to flesh out a full icon design, colour palette etc for use both in the app and elsewhere. This contest is focused on the app icon as this is the most important thing for us. Our icon needs to be distinctive from major competitors: Fika, Daylio and Calm. Brand promise: To help students feel in control of their wellbeing by helping them to recognise patterns and identify factors that either positively or negatively impact them. Students feel supported as they have access to a range of resources. Challenges: 1. The app shouldn’t feel ‘exclusive’ – students explicitly say that the brands they associate with negative wellbeing are those that pride themselves on being ‘exclusive’ (such as designer brands). 2. Keeping students engaged – there are key tracking periods when students will be engaging with the app a lot but there will be time when students don’t use it for a while. Voice: We are comforting, but not patronising or overbearing. We give students the tools and the platform that they need to track their wellbeing, but it is not our place to mentor them or act as a counsellor. Summary: We want the app to feel: - Open and welcoming for all students - Comforting and supportive - Natural and feel-good App Name: Although not finalised, WellStudent and UniMoods are both current contenders.
