Kidtrition (URL is kidtrition.org)
Kidtrition.org is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and is a content-rich site that brings together moms, caregivers and educators to achieve the common goal of promoting healthy eating habits for children.
Kidtrition.org takes a fresh and balanced approach to the topic of nutrition, and does not preach a particular diet or lifestyle. Our tagline is "Health matters" and reflects the importance of health, and the content of the site (matters of health).
In addition to providing current, informative content on child nutrition topics, our goal is also to allocate a certain % of income generated from kidtrition.org to local non-profits that help feed children in need.
Kidtrition.org is also unique in that the community (moms, caregivers, educators) contribute content, whether it is a nutrition article, post or recipe.
The kidtrition.org site needs to be simple, clean and easy to navigate. Layered PSD file is required. The main areas of the site are: Home (Blog), Contribute, About, Store (store won't be available until 2010).
The Home page should include: the blog (which is the heart of the home page), a "recipes" section, a"news" section, an area where people can register/log-in, an area for Sponsors.
Other features we would like to incorporate on the home page are: "Twitter" button(link), Search field, RSS subscription, Login, Email subscription (for newsletter), Poll, Links to the facebook page and other sites.
The site should have a community feel and not appear corporate.
The web design should complement the logo design and support the brand. Logo files are included here: http://kidtrition.org/images/
. The "apple" in the logo could be incorporated into other areas of the site (ex: icon, watermark). Creative use of photography and/or graphics throughout the site is encouraged.
