The Mundane Co makes products inspired by your boring life. Well, not your life, your life is exciting and adventurous. But your friends, coworkers, and your weird neighbor have boring lives.
We work with artists to come up with designs that mock the monotony of every day life. Then we print it on a mug and sell it.

We want a design for a mug that displays the sarcastic phrase: "That was a fantastic meeting." The design will be 9" x 3.8" and will be printed on a high quality, white 15oz coffee mug.

Some design elements that interest us: classic/upscale wallpaper, paisley designs, geometric lines, infographics, layered patterns, mosaics, art deco patterns, etc. See attached for some examples.

The design should 'fill out' the full space of the mug (dimensions above) and should have elements that wrap around the mug. The font should be clearly legible but can be incorporated into the background pattern itself.

We do not want any characters that would make the design appeal to specific interests (cats, dogs, zombies, skeletons, etc).

Colors: We want the design to have a mature and modern color palette. See some sample designs attached. The use of black and white is definitely ok as a base but not required. Some colors that I don't think would work are pastels (Like easter egg paints, too kid-oriented) and the combination of Teal+purple (too dated).

We want to make sure the design itself is a work of art. I am happy to discuss ideas or review sketches/concepts in order to work towards something more defined.

This design is for the first in a series of mugs.

- The audience of the design should be working professionals of all industries.
- Men and women should both relate to the design, but it should be more female-focused.
- The phrase “That was a fantastic meeting,”or a variation of it should be on the design
- The design should make clear the sarcasm and humor in the statement
- The design should draw forth a small chuckle of agreement from a person that sees the design for the first time.
- The color palette should be mature and modern
- The graphics should be mature and timeless.
- “Clean” comes to mind but this does not mean the design needs to be simple. It can be layered and have depth
- The design should make for a great gift for a coworker, boss, friend, or ‘secret santa’
- The design is not kitschy or shallow.
- The design should be viewed as a work of art. When completed, it should be the opposite of mundane.
