How BobbyTables started their character or mascot journey

FireHydrant is a tool for businesses operating software such as websites. The tool helps organizations organize and record events occurring software outages. Anytime a website is down that you've visited, there's a team of engineers behind the scenes trying to remedy the situation, FireHydrant helps organize those people and record the work they do transparently.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
We're looking for a dalmatian puppy (maybe wearing a fireman's hat). The dog's name is Patchy for a mascot for our company. We're an incident response tool called FireHydrant so that's why we'd like a dalmatian as a mascot. We're looking for a *cute* mascot, nothing too serious.
Should be gender neutral. We have a logo as well that could possibly be incorporated.
The character should ideally fit nicely into fixed square dimensions, we're planning on using on shirts and boxes around our site.
In my head, I have a puppy looking at me holding a hose in their mouth sitting down. But I can't draw.
Please don't use any rasterized layers, we'll be resizing this a bunch and need it to be a fully vector illustration.
We like characters from sites like GitHub.com (They also have a full on page of their character doing different things which I could see in the future too: https://octodex.github.com/)
