How jonathan.oakes started their character or mascot journey
Who are you known as?
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are the IT organization for the North American arm of a global staffing company. This includes both operations (keeping the lights on and the networks working) as well as software development and maintenance.
The target audience are business people. Many are recruiters ranging from front line resources up to executive recruiters. But the customer group also includes all overhead functions like IT, finance, etc.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
This character will be the avatar for our "IT Guy" character that we have been developing to help present a human face for IT. The character should represent a young IT professional who is talking to our company but is doing so with humor and honesty.
The character should dress like a modern young professional, no suits and ties, he likes to be comfortable, but also not shorts and t-shirt. Probably jeans and pullovers or jeans and button ups, or possible a sweater over an open collar shirt.. The character is definitely bearded and likely has glasses.
The character should should not be photo-realistic. They are intended to be a cartoon representation. We're envisioning a character where the head is larger than the body but not so much so that it looks freaky. The character should have a few stock poses including some that include open word bubbles that can be filled in with simple messages in the future.
The character is irreverent. He's pop culture savvy and is not straight lace. In the communications he's using modern culture references and is making you laugh with unexpected puns and sarcasm.
