Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Our mission is to help middle school youth across Los Angeles to dream big, believe in themselves, and achieve brighter futures! We do this by utilizing a unique team mentoring approach, which makes the middle school years count, three mentors at a time. We have served over 20,000 youth since our inception.
Since the vast majority of our youth live below the poverty line, we offer our services free-of-charge to schools and families. Our programs are primarily funded through a charity 'gala' dinner each year, for which this invitation would be used.
We have used 99designs for the past two year’s invitation and were happy with the results, so hoping to replicate that success this year!
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
We would like a design for the cover of our gala dinner invitation and will need the final file in Adobe InDesign. From that file, we will design the rest of the invite (mostly text-based) but would like some art to build off of.
To avoid increased postage costs, we prefer the design fit within a typical 5"x7" invitation card (either vertical or horizontal design is OK, vertical slightly preferred but open to both options). The design will be scaled down for the RSVP card, which is 4 1/8"x5.5".
- Organization Name: Los Angeles Team Mentoring
-Focus on mentoring underserved middle school youth in LA
- Event Name: 16th Annual Soiree
- Honoree Name/Organization--To be determined, but this would usually be on the cover (you can leave a space)
- Date--To be determined, but would usually be on the cover
Event Location: To be determined, but would usually be on the cover
- Design elements:
- Sometimes designers have included photos of youth, but not always
- Logo can be included if desired, but not necessary
- Can mention/highlight “Celebrating 22 Years of Service” if desired
- The design should be eye-catching and uplifting. Also appreciate modern/graphic styles and something that captures the fun spirit of the evening.
This is a high-end event normally held at the Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire hotel. Tickets range from $300-$2500 per seat ($25,000 table for 10), and about 500 people attend. Most of them are businesspeople in the Los Angeles area, within the age range of 40-60. The design should reflect an upscale event but not overly stuffy or childish (even though we serve kids). This is not a black tie event so it doesn’t need to feel overly formal.
I'm attaching a few things that may be helpful:
2013 Soiree Invitation Sample: this is an example of year where the focus was really on the picture and the students we serve. I am not opposed to continuing this trend but with a different color scheme/picture.
2012 Invitation: our 2012 invite (left hand page), which was a bit more understated/upscale.
LATM Logo Master--our organization logo
I've also added a few photos of our youth which may be used in the design.
Thank you for considering our project! As a non-profit, we often do not have the ability to obtain great designs due to a limited budget (none!) for design. Though we know your time and efforts are worth so much more, thank you for helping us to put together a beautiful, inspiring, and professional design to help us highlight our 20 years of service in Los Angeles.
