How outsideshot started their button or icon journey
Vault Services provides simple and affordable cloud storage services - this means online backup, storage, access, and archiving.
Our software is designed to be simple and straightforward, providing as much information as possible with as little text as possible and currently powers this solution for several leading companies (http://www.elephantdrive.com, http://www.compliantdata.com, and others).

The end user of the software is generally of moderate technical sophistication.
We plan to add icon overlays to our backup software (the java client that users install locally to manage the automated backup of their data). We have the technology to display one icon over the existing one, but need to get high quality .ico and .png files for each of the following four states: 1) complete, 2) in transfer now, 3) queued for transfer, and 4) error. For an example of this in another implementation, please take a look at source control tools like Subversion or SVN
The graphics need to be in both forms (.ico and .png) with the following requirements:
– transparent background (alpha layer)
– the non-transparent portion of the overlay graphic can only cover the lower left hand quadrant of the total image space
– the image needs to appear clearly in all icon views (i.e. in windows explorer details view, large icon view, etc)
Attached is an example .ico file that captures the concept but are of insufficient resolution/quality. The challenge is to come up with four good icons for the states listed above and deliver the file types required.
