Numbers Run
I'm a data enthusiast who is starting up a new blog centered around having fun through running numbers - this involves discovering hidden insight in trends through analytics, visualizations, and everything from simple napkin math to higher-end numerical techniques.
Like-minded curious individuals who might see a headline in a major newspaper reading "coffee consumption is up 20% in whoville" and would say "huh, that's interesting. I wonder what's really going on. Is it up in drip coffee or lattes as well? What if we plot out the coffee consumption on a map and see if a starbucks opened up in a certain neighborhood." My target audience feels a visceral urge to split numbers apart to see what they are really made of.
I would like an icon that shows a number running, both for a website header and potentially for Twitter and iPad apps.
Ideally, the design should more more clean and professional than playful (this, for example, is way too playful: http://images.clipartof.com/thumbna…-Print.jpg ) , but I'd be open to suggestions.
I'm a fan of Yukio Ota's exit sign running man icon:

Stick figures in general are great, but can be hard to get right.
This, for example, is an amazing combination of a stick figure and a wheelchair:

If there were a way to perform a similar combination for a stick figure and a number, that would be fantastic.
The ideal design should look good both in black and white and in color (I'm thinking the dark red of hex #cc0000 will predominate in section backgrounds and such) - thinking that the b/w version would be "flat" and the colorized version would have some "depth" effects, perhaps beveling and different shades, etc.
Print files and layered PSD plus PNG will be required. All work should be original.
