How FanninQED started their logo & brand identity pack journey
Who are you known as?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
PirateGrunt is a consultancy which focuses on the insurance industry. I am an actuary with a great deal of experience in the statistical programming language "R". (The name "PirateGrunt" is a pretty bad pun.) I do actuarial analysis, more general data analysis and some software development. The audience will be insurance professionals, who tend to skew conservative.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Accounting & Financial
What colors do you want to see in your design?

My ideal for the logo is one which uses pirate images like a sword, eye patch or hook into the letters "P" and "G". The design should be fairly clean and modern, while still warm and human. It can be playful, with some irreverence, but it shouldn't be something that would be too off putting for the intended audience.
Although I fell into the idea of using pirate iconography accidentally, (it's a bad pun) I've embraced it. Pirates embody many qualities that I want associated with my business: efficiency, working outside of the establishment, creativity, agility and being able to accomplish a lot with limited resources. Think of Francis Drake harassing the Spanish, yet being a folk hero to the English.
