Here are some things we would like you to know to create our perfect logo. Our logo must be a timeless design offering the same level of comfort as a cherished note, favorite sweater or a family heirloom. People who come from our area tend to be more than willing to help out their neighbor during challenging times while having great difficulty admitting when they themselves could use some support. Many if not most of them view counseling as something that is for “other people”. We chose the name Dakota (From the Lakota language of the Native Americans who are indigenous to South Dakota), which means friend or ally, to provide a degree of familiarity, history and stability with the art of counseling. Counseling can be especially intimidating for folks who are known to be more stoic and independent, and who take pride in their pioneering heritage.
While these need not necessarily be in our logo, we both appreciate the use of negative space, clean lines, abstract, text and motion. The logo that best represent us communicates strength, comfort, character, coziness and integrity. We would like to convey welcoming, simplicity, hope, peace, growth and calm. Please do not submit Native American art, dream catchers, buffalo, or mountains. We are excited to choose the winning logo for our signage, correspondence, business cards and our website.
