Old Town Local is a collection of multiple light retail spaces in the heart of historic Old Town, San Diego. Our complex is a collection of four 1920’s era bungalow homes that have been converted into a whimsical, colorful light retail shopping collective. The homes have a distinctive A-Frame design that we would love to see incorporated into our logo. However, while we do want to compliment this look, we want to bring elements of more modern design principles that helps us stand out, while not making us stand too far apart from the rest of Old Town. We want a rustic/modern look, but not a Western/Old Spanish look. Something that brings together both the old and the new. Our collection of tenants includes a variety of entrepreneurs and artists that represent many factions of San Diego. We have a local live music venue called Java Joe’s, where some famous musicians got their start (like Jewel and Jason Mraz), a well known cigar shop called Maduros which used to be in Coronado, a few fine artists, an Asian fresh fruit market, and eventually a restaurant space (as yet unknown). It is a truly eclectic group, but representative of many aspects of San Diego - a city of beaches, fine weather, and famous skylines. Our buildings have a unique look in the area - with a collection of four homes that all are A-Framed design. We like the idea of including some representation of the profile of our buildings in the logo. The design for this logo will be something that represents the design throughout the center. We want to take elements of whatever the logo has and use it in directional signs, and as some part of the signage throughout the center.

The Logo will be created in an acid etched wood sign, or carved out of iron. So it needs to be something that works in these mediums.
