Converting an abandoned gas station into a modern industrial specialty coffee shop and specialty pho noodle soup house. Targeting millenials in a predominantly upper middle class Caucasian neighborhood.
Other color requirements
Please see uploaded attachment of a bold and calm color scheme that appealed to me which has red, blues, white, light gray, and espresso. Please also see the building elevation drawing. The design must look good on the half red and half white background for our storefront (although different variations could be had for other media uses like web, cups, etc). The colors must have some red and blue, whether it be much or little. Red symbolizing boldness, strength, and spice. The dark Blue symbolizes quiet strength, like a pair of hardworking jeans. The light blue, white, and light gray symbolize "Light", which brightens and brings calm and tranquility in contrast to the bold red and rich dark espresso. Sometimes we want excitement and spice in our lives, but most of the time, we just want to feel content and at peace in the midst of the busyness. The SaltLight Station is a respite place to enjoy a quality cup of coffee and be productive or simply relax, but is also a place to satisfy your hunger and fulfill your craving for a little spice, like a side of sriracha sauce with the pho (; I'm going for impactful and bold contrasting color schemes that instantly draws attention and emotion. It should be gender neutral or lean towards masculine, not feminine. I don't want all the colors to blend together like washed out vintage colors. There should be eye-catching contrasts to the shades of color, but it should feel uplifting (not gothic, sensual, dark and mysterious like a nightclub) I like seeing the "Salt" and "Light" in different colors for contrast but not if it looks too dizzying with colors. Some of the more eye-catching and interesting fonts we have seen have a bit of character, like a distressed font that looks like sprinkled salt on it (: Our core values that we would like conveyed in the SaltLight brand are integrity, hard-working, humility, impeccable quality, sincere desire to serve, and do it all with a little style (: Have fun!
The name of the shop is SaltLight Station, Coffee & Pho. Salt flavors the earth. Light illuminates the world. We added Station because it is a converted gas station, but it could represent any station or regular stopping place. Our next store may not necessarily be a converted gas station, so we want a SaltLight logo brand that we can take with us to another location. It's a place to stop and refuel, get your caffeine and pho fix in a fast casual eatery. The coffee shop/restaurant are dual businesses under the same roof with a variety of functionally Iayed out seating spaces for introverts and extroverts. The coffee shop will open at 6am and the Pho noodle soup restaurant open for lunch and dinner. Coffee and Pho have some common elements: Hot steam, warmth, savory comfort food/drink, addictive craving, brewed with care, served in cup/bowl vessel. Challenge is to be able to pair these two east/west concepts in a logo that is not cheesy. Please, no stereotypical asian chopstick graphics to represent the pho. No cliche coffee cup and coffee bean cartoonish graphics that can be pasted from google...we prefer clean, slightly abstract styles to convey an impactful message instead of just seeing a common stock image of it. See attached building elevation drawing. The storefront signage will be on a canopy that is half red on the left and half white on the right. Need "SaltLight" to look good on a red background and "Station" to look good on white background. The right side elevation (with windows) will have the text "Coffee & Pho" and "Drive-Thru" with an arrow on a white background. The left side elevation (with drive-thru) will have the text "Coffee & Pho" and "Drive-Thru" on a red background. Need the text for the channel letter storefront signage to be bold, easy to read font, but with an impactful and unique edge (no thin line script fonts). The building exterior will be red brick. The interior will be an open ceiling with exposed industrial ducts painted white, exposed red steel beams, white quartz table tops and counters, with gray or light wood-looking ceramic tile floors. The atmosphere will be clean, inviting, open, airy, with a modern industrial elegance (but not snobby or pretentious), dimmable hanging copper pendant lighting will add character and provide productive lighting during the day, and pink himalayan salt lamps will provide a warm glow and cozy atmosphere in the evening. Functional mixed seating arrangements like you find in a boutique hotel lobby/lounge. Logo branding will also be used on website and social media, paper coffee cups, napkins, and other take out packaging. $599 cash prize (minus whatever 99design's cut is) will go to the contest Winner, but we will also reward 2nd and 3rd place designers a consolation cash prize for their good effort. Really looking forward to seeing what the world's creative minds come up with!
