American Lyric Theater is an opera incubator for composers, librettists and their new works. Through a distinct and collaborative process, ALT works to enhance skills, develop collaborations, and foster the creation of new of operas for diverse audiences. ALT offers a multi-year intensive program for both composers and librettists, providing mentorship to these emerging operatic writers, development of their new works, and placement of their completed operas with producing companies across the country.
American Lyric Theater is known as ALT. Ideally, we would like the logo to highlight this acronym, but in a way that causes the viewer to read/see "Ay El Tee" - not "Alt" We do not want to use periods to separate the three letters (ie. NOT A.L.T.), but to somehow graphically ensure the letters are read separately. The logo should prominently include ALT. It could also have the full name of the company (American Lyric Theater) but it is not necessary. We would like the logo to work with and without our tag line, which is: Great Operas Don't Just Happen COLOR: We would like to avoid using yellow and orange. The logo can use color, but must also look good when used in black and white materials. TYPEFACE: We prefer a clean font/typeface that can be read easily. Logos with elaborate script fonts would not be appropriate. Other information about ALT to help inform the design: MISSION: AMERICAN LYRIC THEATER (ALT) was founded in 2005 by Lawrence Edelson to build a new body of operatic repertoire by nurturing composers and librettists, providing an incubator for their collaborations, and contributing new works to the national canon. ALT's CORE VALUES are: Creativity, Collaboration, Educational, Artist-Focused, Opportunity, Trustworthy Once we have finalized a logo, we will need to incorporate the logo into a business card and letterhead design as part of our new "brand identity pack."
