Jelly's father, Moh L. Poe loved his firstborn son, and was at his side all the way till the end providing the love only he and his wife could offer their fallen son. Kevin LaChapelle, author of Overcoming Adversity, Please God, Don't Let My Badge Tarnish, and PowerMentor: The Art of Mentoring, shares the powerful story of 15-year-old Jelly Poe known as incredibly positive and inspirational to all he encountered, with his infamous gentle smile. Jelly was born in Mae La Refugee Camp in Thailand. His family enduring the longest known civil war, almost 70 years. From the difficulty living in a refugee camp with nearly 60,000 people, how did Jelly become so resilient, and impact so many lives. Kevin reflects how he met Jelly who was intrigued by the humanitarian aid projects Kevin was leading in his country, Kawthoolei (Karen State). Kevin shares that the final weekend of Jelly's life here on earth, impacted and reshaped him forever. Jelly's dad had quit his job to be at home with his beloved son, now in hospice care. The love from Jelly's dad was so incredible as he held his son in his arms to comfort him at his most vulnerable times. During Jelly's funeral procession, police and sheriff's from the community escorted the long line of cars, and had hand over their hearts, and wiped away tears. That is typical of Jelly's impact on his community! INSERT PHOTO NAMED PoeKevin
