Tek Yön Biletler
Born in 1982 in Ankara. Expat for 18 years. Currently living in Munich as a patent clerk. Travelling is his passion.
This fiction novel is a psychological thriller based on four characters chasing each other from West Europe to Istanbul and then to Tokyo. It is written in Turkish that is to be later translated into English and German.
25-50, all genders, liberal, white-collar and/or mid-class population of developed and developing countries.
Book cover type
The design might give the feeling of "wanderlust", "travelling to distant lands" "going towards unknown" "invitation to something mysterious." etc.. I prefer a clean, simple and elegant design that tells the reader that this book contains something "valuable". Visually speaking, I like in general: -Art deco fonts and colors -Japanese tessalations printed on fabrics -Curved clouds and waves as often depicted in modernized turkish miniature (see e.g. works of Nusret Colpan). I know that it is difficult implement all these aspects into one design, so I guess my priorities are 1. The design is clean and elegant, not too busy. Minimalist designs are welcome too. 2. The design somehow gives clues to the reader that the story takes place in multiple places across the globe (Scotland, Germany, Turkey, Japan).
What to avoid
I do not expect to see a very literal design including a plane ticket or an airplane. I do not want curly fonts (like the coca cola brand style) or anything that gives a light, comedic, feel-good feeling. I really do not want to see any simplistic (I do not mean minimalistic) illustrations as they often do with coffee table books, self development books, infographic posters etc. Using a stock imagery could be an option if the prices is reasonable. I will also provide some photographs that would trigger some feelings I look for.
It all began with a design brief.
A quick, interactive guide helped them understand their design style and captured exactly what they needed in their book cover.
Designers across the globe delivered design magic.

And then… they selected a winner!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
