Interracial Relationships Between Black Women and White Men
Cheryl Y. Judice
Cheryl Y. Judice holds a Ph.D. in sociology from Northwestern University where she is an adjunct faculty member in the School of Education and Social Policy. She has taught sociology, social psychology, and African American studies at Lake Forest College, Northeastern Illinois University and Northwestern University. Her research focuses on the intersections of race, class, and gender. Her book, Interracial Marriages Between Black Women and White Men (2008) was the first academic text published on the experiences of black women in interracial marriages. . This is her second book on African American women who are dating, married to, or divorced from white men. She also writes a blog for Chicagonow.com titled “Issues in Black and White.”
Interracial Relationships Between Black Women and White Men is comprised of interviews with black women who are dating, married to, or divorced from white men. Additionally, the book includes interviews with black women on dating challenges and white men on why they date African American women.
Adult white women, black women and white men (21 - 70 age range). People interested in black-white romantic relationships. With the upcoming marriage of Prince Harry of England to Meghan Markle, I expect there will be renewed interest in the book's topic.
Book cover type
A book cover that will stand out! I think of this book as an 'airport book' - something that people waiting in airports or seated on a plane will want to read. I prefer simple designs which don't look too busy. I would like the mood of the cover to be sophisticated. I think a simple image in the middle of the cover with the title across the top of the page and my name at the bottom would be fine. The font should be strong, not delicate in appearance. The title should be clear. The same goes for my name (author) at the bottom of the page.
What to avoid
Black and white covers - too stark

Rocio was an absolute professional in all areas, from the first consultation to an unexpected file adjustment after the project was completed. She responds quickly, and her turnaround time is exceptionally fast. You wouldn't know if from the quality of her work, however: it is top-notch. She listens, and she intuitively understands the visual communication so necessary for authors to get their book "feel" across to a potential audience. The feedback on the cover Rocio designed has been incredible. I fell in love with it immediately, and others are quick to grasp the mix of humor and solemnity conveyed in the graphic.
I can't recommend Rocio Martin Osuna highly enough. I would give her 100 stars if that was an option. If you choose to work with her, you will be absolutely delighted with the end product and the entire process.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
