Robbi Dickens and Robertson Dickens
Robbi is a former homeland security analyst and TOP SECRET clearance holder who has a Master's degree in International Affairs from the George. H.W. Bush School of Government and Public Service. Having cut his teeth as a White House intern and Special Assistant ("Bodyman") to the U.S. Secretary of Education, he has a special perspective on D.C. life and politics.
A terrorist group takes a missionary hostage from a medical clinic in North Africa and claims he works for the CIA. A secret program of government bureaucrats turned intelligence operatives gets activated from Washington D.C. to rescue the missionary. About half the book takes place in Washington, D.C. and the other half in North Africa. The main intelligence operative gets killed and a new operative emerges to take his place. The new operative - is a black female (former track star) - emerges at the end of the book as the main officer of the government program. PS - the head terrorist turns out to be a government asset. PPS - the American president loses the election, refuses to leave office and tanks roll into to DC. The missionary's rescue gets used as political fodder for the President.
Fiction, thriller readers in the genre of Vince Flynn, Brad Meltzer, etc. Middle age males in the United States. I have designed the plot, substance, and grammar for college age and up. Most action thrillers popular on the market have white, male leads. This starts with a white male and concludes with a black female lead. There is a powerful CIA officer who is female as well so I am hoping to pull in some additional female readers as well.
Book cover type
I have three ideas that are not remotely similar. 1. I have in my mind a simplicit, matted look. Like the package that an Apple product comes in. Black maybe, white maybe. Not sure. Fewer words the better. The more mysterious the better. The problem with that concept is that it would look good on a hardback. I don't know what the simple idea would look like for an e-book or paperback. 2. Something with Langley (CIA Headquarters) or the White House in the backgroud and a white male silhouette and a black female silhoutte in the foreground. 3. A white matted cover with a subtle document in black with "Top Secret" stamped on top of it in red.
What to avoid
I am concerned that what i have requested above would squelch a creative idea that a designer has. So...if you read what The Missionary is about and have a clever idea, submit it. I am wide open to it.
