The Chicago Stoics
This is Michael Dardanes's first novel. He lives in Fort Worth, TX with his wife Brynn. He enjoys coaching soccer, practicing yoga and meditation, reading, and rolling around like a monkey in brazilian jiujitsu.
At fourteen, Marcus found a document online that changed his life trajectory forever. Now, at eighteen, he'll forego college and fly to Chicago to become a student of a modern day Stoic philosopher. Drawn to an intelligent, beautiful young woman named Sara and mentored by a friend named Rachel, he'll experience a rollercoaster of emotions and obstacles that will either force him to return to the comforts of home or usher him into manhood in the Windy City.
Age 18-40, male. Those that are interested in self-development, stoic philosophy in particular.
Book cover type
The stoic philosopher in the book lectures right in front of the Bean in modern-day Chicago. He wears a ragged long-sleeve red shirt and has a short beard with messy, wavy hair. I think it could be cool to have the Bean drawn on the front cover with the philosopher lecturing and his students sitting and listening. Colorful clothes on those around the Bean could bring a nice focal point to customer's attention. Also, profiles of people passing by would be look cool, too. I like the idea of pencil/stencil drawings of the people and the Bean. The city skyline behind might be a great addition, too. Please feel free to improvise, though. That's why I'm here. I'm not an artist and want to leave it to the experts.
