Chelsea Tinsler Jones
Chelsea Tinsler Jones is an avid chamber musician, freelance percussionist, and educator based in greater Salt Lake City, Utah. She is percussionist and Director of Operations for Khemia Ensemble, a mixed-chamber ensemble dedicated to promoting contemporary classical music, and an Instructor of Music at Utah Valley University. Chelsea received her MM in Percussion Performance and Chamber Music from the University of Michigan and her BM in Percussion Performance and Music Education from the Hartt School.
This is a music education book aimed at being used with percussion teachers and private students, or to be used in performance with two players performing duets. This is NOT a novel, biography, or anything of that sort.
Music teachers, band directors, drum/percussion students.
Book cover type
This is a short book collection of snare drum duets. The inside material is primarily sheet music. The target market is music teachers and beginning snare drum students, so the title "Level Up!" refers to the measurable progress that comes with graduating to the next level. It also has a video game connotation, so we were thinking that an "arcade" style theme to the cover could make it fun. Of course, it has nothing to do with video games or arcades, but using the neon sign color scheme and styling of an arcade, perhaps with neon outlines of drumstick on a drum, could make it eye-catching and fun. Without looking too "kid like", the level of student this would generally be targeting is in the 11-14 year old range, and teachers who teach middle school, private drum lessons, or young high school kids. We've assembled a Pinterest board with some of this neon/arcade styling that might be helpful. https://pin.it/313vSR2 We do NOT want to use the exact stock images found in any of those pinned images. They are just for inspiration. Ideally, the neon/arcade "feel" would be generated by the designer, or through creative font treatments and effects. We've also assembled a folder of some of our other covers here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2m1cb6abniva4h6/AACo1KMadoe7k1wAZBdagvgua?dl=0
