Author of a fiction drama/crime novel, Island of Hope.
What's your vision?
This is my first novel and I am very excited about this project. The old saying is that you can't judge a book by it's cover. I couldn't disagree more! So here are the details. I want simple, yet interesting. An example would be the covers to the 50 shades of Grey series. These covers are very simple, but perfect. I'm also thinking a darker color palette. Simple, dark, but yet it needs to fit into the theme of my novel. So here are the details...better yet, here is the Blurp to my novel (BTW...the blurp will need to be on the back of the book). I think you will get a better understanding from this: (START) There was an island of grainy crystallized sand. Of palm trees, exotic birds, reptiles, vermin, and snakes. Of solitude and repose. Yet, it was never seen, or felt; it was an island of escape. It was his island, his alone, active in the abyss of his mind; Delvin's mind. She was Glory. Beautiful, sweet, dead Glory. But somehow, somewhere on an invisible island, in the mind of a complete stranger, she lived. Their lives intertwined by her unseemly fate, his unjust fortune. But it was the magic of the island where she was able to teach Delvin about the persistence of hope in a hopeless world. Her death, his innocence, linked by the hands of a cold-blooded murderer. It was on an Island of Hope that young Delvin learned to live life, even though it wasn't his life to live. His life goals were to escape the odds of his peers; those of a young black man. He'd once dreamed of defeating the odds that spoke of turmoil; that spoke of violence; that spoke of hopelessness. But now his dreams were locked away in a prison cell, a result of a crime in which he didn't commit. This is a story about his demoralizing experience, his roller coaster cycle of hope and despair, and the climax of his resurrection. This is a heartfelt novel that teaches us about the unexpectedness of life. A story that teaches us about the perseverance of hope. As Herman Melville once said, "Hope is the struggle of the soul, breaking loose from what is perishable and attesting her eternity." (END) Some ideas I envision include: A dark storm, clouds, waves and back in the distance (to the left) the sun is breaking through and there is a bright area where it is calm and there is an island that looks peaceful, hopeful - off in the distance. A young black boy's profile. I'm open to ideas, so please submit simple, eye catching designs. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: On Front: Image: To be created Title: Island of Hope Author: D.L.
