joefleck628 got their new book cover by running a design contest:
Humorous Halloween-themed story for teenagers
Check out joefleck628's Book cover contest…
Joe Fleck has been writing stories for as long as he's known how to read. He has been working on professional novels for over eight years, drawing inspiration from Liu Cixin, Philip Pullman, and Haruki Murakami.
Ian Hickman, the high school bully, is planning a Halloween party at his house, and Eric’s friends have conceived an elaborate prank involving green slime and a bucket full of moist starfish to get back at Hickman once and for all. But Eric’s friends aren’t the only ones plotting revenge. Jerry has discovered Hickman’s fear of bats, and has a giant crate of them to release in Hickman’s house. As the two teams of pranksters clash, trying to sabotage each other in order to avoid getting upstaged, Hickman’s friends are serving as bodyguards to defend him from the rumored revenge schemes. The story is told five times, each from a different person’s perspective, slowly revealing more of the complete story.
Teens and adults looking for a humorous, fast-paced, and complex story.
I want a cover that has a Halloween feel to it. In case it becomes relevant, the five main teenagers in the story are Eric, who is wearing a pirate costume at the party, Rose, who is wearing a grim reaper costume, Sam, who is wearing an FBI costume, Aaron, who is wearing a cheesy-looking vampire costume, and Hickman, who is wearing green butterfly wings and holding a fairy wand. I understand that this plot is kind of hard to come up with a cover concept for. I'd be totally fine if the cover was simply a picture of a house at nighttime that was lit up like there was a teenage house party inside.
What to avoid
Too many photorealistic people. I don't like covers with some stock photo actor pasted on the front, but if it's done in a more stylized or subtle way, it could work out okay.
