Purty Dang Good
Nearing the age of fifty, Steve Burney risked everything to open a small family business in Lake Forest Park, Washington, even though he had never previously owned a business and had absolutely no experience with how to do it. After a few months long wild ride in 2004 of improbable serendipitous occurrences Burney Brothers BBQ had its grand opening. Before that he was a bartender and manager at a downtown Seattle hotel for seventeen years. Originally from Texas, he grew up in a small town and left at the age of nineteen to become a professional actor in New York for over ten years. He is now back in Texas, living outside San Antonio with his wife, Leni.
Personal, mostly humorous, true story of starting a small family business, a barbecue restaurant, in the Seattle, Washington area. Had never previously owned a restaurant and had no experience with how to make barbecue.
Men, probably 20's and older. Aspiring entrepreneurs or those wishing to start a small family business.
Book cover type
Something folksy, but not cornball. I'm kind of seeing a face with a light bulb going off, but maybe that's too much. The browser should get a sense of something that has some elements of humor and family sentimentality.
What to avoid
Probably shouldn't lean too much into the barbecue theme, even though it's pretty central to the story. Not really wanting people to think it's a cookbook or a how-to book or to think it's a hayseed humor book.
It all began with a design brief.
A quick, interactive guide helped them understand their design style and captured exactly what they needed in their book cover.
Designers across the globe delivered design magic.
sbtex52 collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
