How loganjthompson started their book cover journey
Beyond the Content
Logan Thompson has 99th percentile scores on the SAT, GRE, and GMAT. He has studied and practiced mindfulness since 2008. After earning his MBA from Vanderbilt University, Logan lived at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA for two and a half years, spending over five months of that time on silent mindfulness retreats. He also participated in a two-year mindfulness teacher training program by Inward Bound Mindfulness Education (iBme). He has spent the past several years teaching both mindfulness and test prep for Manhattan Prep. Logan is currently in a Master of Education program at Harvard University, studying Human Development and Psychology.
In this revolutionary and common-sense book—applicable to all standardized test prep, including state-administered exams, the SAT, SATII, ACT, GRE, GMAT, MCAT, and LSAT—Logan Thompson outlines the massive gap in the status quo of test prep teaching and learning. In a clear and warm voice, Logan explains how our mental and emotional habits are critical factors in our ability to perform. Most of us either aren’t aware of these habits or try to get rid of them, but both approaches lead to decreased performance. Through foundational mindfulness practices and through the metaphor of passengers, drivers, and passengers, Logan provides an accessible guide to identifying and working with our mental and emotional patterns to increase performance. In name, this book is about test prep, but it is a must read for anyone who wants to access their full performance potential in any arena.
Young adults, aged 15-25 who are preparing for a standardized test. This means that parents will also be buying the book.
I like the inviting nature of it. I like the simplicity. I like that the icon isn't lifeless.
I like the creative icon. I like the top half. I don't like the bottom half. Informal is too hard to read. I don't like the L and G.
I like the simplicity. I want mine to be warmer though.
Love the layout. Just love everything about this. I'd want mind to be a little warmer.
What colors do you want to see in your design?
I attached several cover attempts that do not quite do it for me. I do like the simplicity of the . There are 9 covers attached. I like the first one (the white one with the abstract brain and kid at the desk) and the second airplane one (yellow airplane) the most out of all of them. I don't like that the white one is a bit rigid and colorless. I don't like the fonts in the paper airplane one. And I'm not too crazy about the paper airplane icon. I hate all four in the last attachment. To busy or dated or sappy or zen. I like clean, simplistic, and relatability. So it does need to have an inviting feel.
