What's your vision?
I'm looking for a paperback/ebook cover for my novel, The Darkest Valley, (82,000 words, Literary, set in 1990). The tentative back cover blurb gives a sense of what the cover art ought to point toward: "In the Cowichan Valley on beautiful Vancouver Island, a pastor’s wife with a deep secret is dying of cancer, his young Indian convert is in danger of being "grabbed" and initiated into Longhouse spirit-dancing rituals, and his congregation is tossing him to the wolves. In desperation, he attempts to recruit a reluctant local newspaper editor to publish the truth about the Longhouse abuse. Along the way truth is put to the test, and when his wife’s secret is revealed, so is their faith." In addition, the plotting of the various strands--demonism, spirit dancing, and the weave of Providence--combine with the entanglements of circumstance to make for a genuine sense of intrigue. Title: The Darkest Valley Author: Rick Dewhurst Genre: Literary Audience: Adult women, religious/Christian Quotidian Books will be using Createspace to publish the paperback, so it has to fit their requirements. We'll need a minimum 300dpi resolution for this (https://www.createspace.com/Product). For ebook cover, we'll need the following sizes: Barnes & Noble Embedded Cover: 600px x 730px iBooks Embedded Cover: 600px x 860px Amazon Embedded Cover: 600px x 800px Amazon Catalog Cover: 1562px x 2500px We would also prefer 300dpi for the ebook. We would like to get the original design files (photoshop, etc) with all the layers attached. Obviously, you will need to own the rights to all the images used and fully release all copyright to us.
A suggestion: Since it's set in a valley and the mood is generally solemn, we are wondering if the letter V might be incorporated somehow, suggesting victory in the face of adversity. What brings the concept to mind is the V in the Last Supper painting exploited to good effect in The Da Vince Code.
