Thrown Off Script: Turn Interruptions Into Opportunities and Thrive in the Unexpected
Mike Domeny is an actor, author, and coach who is driven by his calling to communicate the truths of the Bible creatively, and equip others to do the same. Since joining 321 Improv in 2011, Mike has traveled the country encouraging people to discover the joy Jesus offers in the midst of this unscripted life. When he’s not on the road, he serves as a creative writer for Next Level Church. He currently resides in New Hampshire with his wife and daughter
In Thrown Off Script, the author takes the principles that make improv work on stage, sprinkles them with his brand of quick humor, and parallels them with life-giving truths from the Bible so you can: Overcome fears and doubts that choke progress Stop feeling “stuck” and start living your purpose Recognize interruptions as opportunities for growth
Primarily Christians who feel "stuck" in their relationship with God due to life's interruptions (but the design should not look "Christian-y" at all)
Book cover type
The trim size of the book is 5x8. Make me laugh with your design! Somebody falling, somebody having a bad day; have fun with this one! I'm drawn to "paper-cut" style art over photography (examples included), and abstract over realism. But I'm intrigued by the idea of a "mixed media" of the two. I like "breaking the fourth wall" - bringing attention to the fact that it is a book (someone falling through the cover; a design that ties the front and back together somehow, etc.)
What to avoid
Although the content is about improv comedy and Christianity, I'd like the cover design to steer clear of imagery specific to those topics. Also, please avoid red as a predominant color.
It all began with a design brief.

Designers across the globe delivered design magic.

When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
