The cover is for a book that describes the incredible true story of one of the greatest expeditions ever attempted.
The author ran a loop around planet earth. The equivalent to 622 full marathons in just 621 days. Crossing four continents coast to coast one after the other, running through 26 countries.
The athlete set two world records - 1) breaking the existing speed record for 'circumnavigation of the world on foot' (becoming the fastest man/runner around the world)
2) The first athlete/person in history to run a solo, unsupported circumnavigation of planet earth.
Running self sufficient - carrying clothes, tent, sleeping kit, spare shoes, satellite tracker and gps etc as well as food between towns.
Across remote stretches (crossing a desert for example) the cart he pushed weighed more than the runner!
This type of unmarked - self navigated, self sufficient, unaided style of running, where the runner covers a marathon or more in successive days, is known in the UK as a 'Mountain Marathon'
The expedition - which this book depicts, was the greatest mountain Marathon ever ran.
The expedition twice entered the arctic circle, crossed The Andes mountains, The Nullarbor Desert as well as lows of -31C and highs of plus 55C. And had to contend with both Wolves and Bears.
The book cover should use a mixture of bold text and illustrated pictures of:
A wolf and or a bear on the ridge of the mountains howling/silhouetted by the moon and or the sun
If it can work within the space then perhaps elements of a world map or an outline of part of planet Earth?
We've attached images of book-cover designs within the genre that will give a good indication for the desired feel of the book.
