Life Lessons from a Blue Macaw: Learning to Live in the Now
Duke Tate was born in Mississippi to a family of dreamers and artists. There, he grew up surrounded by an age-old tradition of storytelling common to the deep South that got deep in his bones. He currently resides in Southeast Florida where he loves to read, fish, explore, cook Asian food and read.
Life Lessons from a Blue Macaw is the third book in the My Big Journey series where author Duke Tate details a fictional story of a young disillusioned man named Duke living on Conch Island, Florida and his experiences with a wise parrot from the Isle of Man named Scarlett who becomes his mystical teacher. This bird is no ordinary parrot. In fact, under the wing of the blue and red feathered being, Duke goes through rigorous fasting, sacrifices all his vices, endures an exercise called not doing something else and learns something about the nature of humanity and a wee bit about Reality too. Along the way, Duke learns to live in the present and breaks through the illusion that he is anything more than a parrot in a cage himself.
