Ben Pease is a board member of the Ruth Stone Foundation and an editor of Monk Books. His first full-length collection of poems, Chateau Wichman, is forthcoming from Big Lucks Books, and more work can be found online at fugitivesofspeech.tumblr.com/works. He’s currently in Goshen, VT, working on the Ruth Stone property.
Influenced by the heroic monomyth, the Tao-Te Ching, Apollo and Daphne, the NASA Apollo, Science Fiction, Eliot Weinberger, Proust, Altered States, and that Davis Foster Wallace essay on cruise ships, Chateau Wichman is a saga of rebellion and romance. PLOT: It's the story of a reclusive apartment hermit who--having a psychedelic mind trip after getting high with his gorgeous neighbor, Daphne--becomes a YouTube celebrity with God-like powers. After determing he's too powerful for this universe, he banishes himself to the moon, where he and Debbie live together forever as cult-heros.
Primary Audience: poets, lover of independent poetry Secondary audience: sci-fi fans, parody fans, people who think the moon landing was a hoax (when they're high)
