* The Book *
We are publishing a new audiobook called "Masters of Doom". The title is read by Wil Wheaton and we need a great cover!
The book follows the inception of the video game company ID Software, and its creators John Carmack and John Romero. They grew from being a small and independent shareware game publisher, to creating some of the most successful and beloved computer games of all time (Doom and Quake).
* Book Summary *
Here's the summary from the publisher:
"Masters of Doom is the amazing true story of the Lennon and McCartney of video games: John Carmack and John Romero. Together, they ruled big business. They transformed popular culture. And they provoked a national controversy. More than anything, they lived a unique and rollicking American Dream, escaping the broken homes of their youth to produce the most notoriously successful game franchises in history—Doom and Quake— until the games they made tore them apart. This is a story of friendship and betrayal, commerce and artistry—a powerful and compassionate account of what it's like to be young, driven, and wildly creative."
* The Specs *
The audiobook cover should be 6" by 6" in dimension. If using Photoshop, please use 300 dpi.
The cover needs to contain the following text:
Masters of Doom
Read by Wil Wheaton
* Design Details *
We like the concept of using one core image or illustration which shows the theme of the book (the book is about video games and gaming culture). Simple is always good!
Please do not use any trademarked or copyrighted images (ie. no images or logos from Doom or other ID games).
We have attached an image of the print version of the book (we can't use this artwork since it is owned by Random House but it might spark some ideas). We've also attached some covers that we like, but please try to be creative and original! These just happen to be ones we like, rather than ones we want you to emulate, although the "Catching Fire" cover IS pretty awesome...
