Magnus Nights: The Helios Incident
Bryn Smith is a public servant who dreams of being a lazy and well-paid author. He lives in Canberra with his ungrateful cat.
Thomas Craddock is a rookie detective with the Magnus Constabulary. He and his hot-tempered mentor, James Augustine, are part of a city-wide investigation into the illegal trade of plasma weapons in the Magnus undercity, the densely-populated, crime-ridden lower sections of Magnus. What they find is a conspiracy that reaches into the halls of Magnus' wealthy and powerful.
Adult male audience, relevant genre enthusiast.
Dark city skyline, with black buildings against white. A single building dominates skyline with a logo at its summit, a yellow semi-circle, with yellow spears running off the curved edges. The black of the buildings becomes a solid block down to the bottom of the book. In the middle section is the book title. In the lower section, two white silhouettes/figures representing the main characters down the bottom. One is a taller, lean figure in a short coat, the other is a shorter (but not overly) stockier figure a long coat. Both have guns drawn. To the side there is the red silhouette/figure of a woman in a dress.
What to avoid
