We are an indie publsihing company creating childrens fiction.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
Front and back cover for a childrens short read book aimed at 9-13.
The story is about a young schoolboy who is enticed underground at Covent Garden station during a school trip. He finds a hidden underground world of trolls, changelings and evil untrustworthy fairies.
He has to help the trolls retrieve an object or its all doom and gloom. You get the idea.
I wanted to convey the idea of a different world beneath our feet. I was thinking of a cut through the pavement or station platform with people’s legs and feet in view then, descend into a dark brick-built cave and two glowing eyes of the trolls.
The title of the story could then be incorporated into the cut through.
I have attached a rough idea.
However, nothing is written in stone and if you want to read the story, its only 11k words and come up with something else then you are most welcome. I can send a pdf. (please note the copy I am going to send is the not edited version.)
Although the book is for tweens I don't want the cover to look too childish. Please let me know if you want to read the story. We need the front back and spine in 13.5 x 21.5 x 6mm portraite.
If you look at the book 'Shadow Jumper' by J.M Forster you will get the idea of the vibe we are going for.
Files to be supplied in Photoshop or Illustrator (with layers) so we can put on the barcode and other stuff this end.
