How m_pettry started their book cover journey
Matt Pettry (M.A. Asbury Theological Seminary) has been teaching in Bible Colleges for 15 years. He has also served on Leadership Teams of local churches. His passion is to see the Kingdom of God on earth as it is in Heaven. He enjoys sharing the lifelong value of devotion to Jesus. He lives in Colorado Springs with his wife, Patrina, and their daughter Mia.
Making Lightning is about positioning our hearts to encounter the majesty of Jesus and restoring our sense of wonder. We don't have to live spiritually bored. Many do not live fully alive to God's best plan and highest purposes and are missing out on life's opportunities. We need to recover the wonder of it all. Encountering God's presence through an amped-up devotional flame will not only enable us to walk in the fire of first love but will also empower us to release a sound that will awaken a sleeping generation.
In Making Lightning you'll discover how to:
Energize your heart to be desperately devoted to Jesus.
Engage the awe-filled wonder of God's Presence.
Cultivate a tender heart towards God and others by setting fire to spiritual disciplines.
Become the Lord's Vent.
Glorify God by walking in the fire of first love.
Strengthen your devotional flame with an expectation to see results.
Build solemn assemblies that minister to Jesus and release His purposes.
Christians, young adults, adults, interested in spiritual formation, prayer, discipleship, and revival.

When I think of this cover, I do think of something simple, even whimsical and lighthearted - to sort of contrast such a serious idea as "Making Lightning." I like playful ideas but not "Playful" fonts. This lightning is to evoke wonder, shock even. Rather than harnessing lightning, or discovering lightning (Ben Franklin flying a kite), its more about being amazed/in wonderment/shocked. Lightning evokes wonder. I hope that the metaphor of "Making Lightning" will be clear. But i'm open to be shown that I really don't know what I like.
I don’t know if helps or not but I’m a huge fan of iconography, Both Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox icons.
I got the idea for this book from a book in the Bible where John, being banned to a wilderness island alone, had a vision of Gods Throne and from it came lightning. Suppose there is some more images to play with there. Thank you so much for your help. It’s much appreciated.
