I am looking for an eye catching book cover (paperback and e-book) for the first novel in my trilogy. I would most likely want to work on a 1-1 basis with the winning designer to create similar/cohesive covers for the other 2 books in the series.
The first 2 books in the series are published with existing covers. The covers are not horrible (in my opinion), but I feel as though they could be much better. The new cover does not in any way need to resemble the existing covers.
In the previous covers I have used the font Phantom. It is also used in the interior of the books for chapter headings. I like this font, but it is not a requirement.
The size of the book would be around 6x9 and 350 pages long.
I am looking for a cover that is at first eye catching and upon further viewing is meaningful and pertinent to the themes of the book. To me that means not a cluttered design. Simple is good. Something that is bold enough to be noticed in a small thumbnail on Amazon. I would like the design to have some science fiction or futuristic vibe to it (either through font or image).
I like covers that have visual depth and texture.
I am open to using stock images, but I do not like covers that are just several images laid on top of each other and then the book title. Include stock images if you are going to use them creatively or add your own effects to them.
The book deals a lot with cycles and reliving the same life over and over again. Some of the characters in the book believe that the universe wraps around on itself, thus starting over and repeating everything that happened before.
There are some time paradoxes in the story that bring up issues of cause and affect. What point in a cycle caused the other?
The story takes place in a time where there is a much more militarized and oppressive government that restricts who can use and develop technology.
The subject matter is dark, but the colors do not necessarily need to be dark. I am pretty open on colors.
I have attached covers that I like.
The winning cover should be something that can be altered to fit the other 2 books in the series. I would like to continue working with the winning designer for the other 2 books, and I want the series to have a cohesive look, so keep that in the back of your mind when designing.
