What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
A book cover (including front cover, spine, back-cover, and 3-D rendering with backdrop for my website) for my up-coming book. The title is Lessons from the Golf Guru - Wit, Wisdom, Mind-Tricks, & Mysticism for Golf and Life. Design should be immediately genre (golf) identifiable at a thumbnail and the words Golf Guru should be the two words of the title that are largest and stand out the most, however, the sub-title wit, wisdom, mind tricks, and mysticism would all be cleverly incorporated in a creative way. It is a series of lessons (mostly about the mental side of the game) that incorporate humor and ancient wisdom and leave you with a greater appreciation for the game and what it can teach you about life, but the cover should also portray an element of mystery at the same time. As the first book in a series, special consideration will be given to the creation of a uniquely recognizable character that can be used in successive books in a setting that not only incorporates all thematic elements, but which say this is more than just another golf book. Ideal covers would also be artistically impressive, with maybe just a hint of a fantasy/sci-fi feel because a lot will be sold in print in addition to online, so the cover should be just as engaging at a larger size.
I have rough drafts I am considering with Buddha, Yoda, Hindu mystics, and Ninja Golfers to lend a bit of the wit, wisdom, mystery, and mysticism to the traditional student teacher relationship, but I am totally open to unique concepts that I haven't considered which creatively incorporate all thematic elements. Also, the design should have golf authenticity, as I am a stickler about specific details related to the game(i.e. you should know at least enough to not show a golfer putting on a green with a driver, or holding a club incorrectly, etc. if that is part of the design)
