One of the most compelling stories within the book is about a barefoot, dark-haired 8-year-old girl dragging a wooden water bucket with a rope handle as she walks down a dirt road to get water for the household. She’s tired. It’s hot. She wants to play, but has to hand all the household chores alone. She's wearing a faded cotton print dress. There is a cotton field on one side, a creek on the other. She is carrying her homemade cloth doll in the other hand. The year is 1907. The back cover will have text. I can supply text when I decide on the final cover. Also, the back cover and spine should bleed over the design from the front cover ... to create the feel of one continuous image on front and back. NOTE: Feel free to use some creativity too. Surprise me. You might be thinking something I'm not. Also I added some covers that may be in a similar genre. ANOTHER NOTE: I approve of stock images, but have little to no budget for that. Let's see what we can do with what you already have.
What to avoid
No modern images, keep to the feel of early 1900s. No fantasy characters No nudity ever

And then… they selected a winner!
Alessio has been my favorite designer to work with of all the projects I've done! He is incredibly patient, punctual and very pleasant to communicate with. I am very picky about small details on my design and he was so accommodating to my vision through the process. He is impressively skilled at taking direction and was happy to make adjustments to make the design exactly what I envisioned (even when I had a hard time articulating what I wanted!) He is able to expand on your ideas and make them better than you even imagine yourself and is always respectful of your wants and opinions. Couldn't give a more glowing review. I would highly highly recommend him for your next project! I am so happy I chose him and would hire him again in a second!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
