About the Book
College in Four Years is based on insider knowledge— after working with more than 12,000 students over the course of my thirty-plus years as a professor – I know what it takes to get you through college successfully. You won’t get this proven information from counselors, peers, or advisers – most of the advice you've received up to this point is focused on how to get you into college – not how to get you out. How do I know the information that I am sharing with you works? I have developed and applied the principles in real time – on campus, in classrooms, in my office, while I’m trying to eat lunch and unfortunately on my way into the men’s room – those were particularly short conversations for obvious reasons. I’ve seen students absorb this information (including my two daughters), use it wisely and succeed in college and beyond. I’ve also seen students ignore these tactics and fail. This book will help you to be the former, not the latter.
In short and focused chapters, I make clear points that are concretely supported by informative stories about real students and professors. No sermons or lectures, just sharing stories of experiences with my students and sometimes what I learned the hard way in my own undergraduate and graduate experiences. I also include useful diagrams, tips, worksheets and outlines that enhance this self -driven book. College in four years? Yes! You can do it!
