Awesome to work with, and another fine job as usual! Thank you, Melinda!
Working with Liana was amazing. She nailed our brief on a last minute request and was so kind to oblige the many changes we requested! Definitely looking forward to working with her again!

As always, working with Clar.c Design has just been a dream! This cover is the exact tone we were going for and Clarissa just nailed it again! So pleased.
How Lyndawilson started their book cover journey
Lynda L. Wilson
A Calgary native, Lynda L. Wilson has lived in Kitchener, Ontario since 1991. She and husband Doug get out to the Guelph to Goderich Rail Trail often to reminisce and enjoy the lush Ontario countryside. She is still trying to find her way around. Walking Home is her first book.
Walking Home is an intimate ramble through the lush Ontario countryside as the author and her husband set out to become the first to walk the 127-km Guelph to Goderich Rail Trail. Laugh-out-loud funny and poignant in turn, Walking Home is a love story amidst deer flies, detours and the sweltering heat of an Ontario summer. Untangling the rich history of the trail and towns along the way, the two aging hikers discover the meaning of home and just how difficult it can be to let go.
The typical audience is 40 and over, mostly female, but we have had quite a bit of interest in the book by men (this is my second edition). It is a tale with lots of local interest (southwestern Ontario and the Guelph to Goderich Rail Trail in particular). Hikers and cyclists enjoy the story, but it also has the potential for a much wider audience who enjoy stories about difficult inward and outward journeys. I've had some great reviews from readers in the U.S., for example, so a cover that reflects the more personal nature of the story might also be interesting (part of the story is about feeling displaced and searching to find what home really means, so there is serious element in the book as well).
Book cover type
InDesign files will work best, I believe. Friesens out of Manitoba is our printer.
What colors do you want to see in your design?
The book size is 5.25" x 8". I'd like the cover to be something both men and women will be drawn to, so not overly feminine. One of the lines in the book is about the trail being like a promise, like a sure way home. So, home is as important a theme as the trail. It was also a very peaceful, meditative experience, with many difficulties along the way (oppressive heat, VERY sore muscles and joints, lack of preparation causing some heartache, etc.). The book is also quite humorous at times, so we don't want anything overly serious for the cover. I'll include some photos we took of the trail along the way to give a sense of the type of trail and where the walk took place, BUT use your own discretion.
We've included some photos from the trail, but these may not be appropriate. They may used more as a suggestion.
