I've used Nicole7 for several book cover designs now. I've always been very happy with the final results and there's always great communication. Highly recommended!

Avengerblack did a great job. His work is awesome and he delivered exactly the technical formats required for Amazon Kindle. I did not expect my imaginations to be transformed to paper in this great way. I was very satisfied to work with him.
- Dalton Menezes
A great experience working with Dalton on my ebook cover. He had multiple cool and creative ideas, quickly understanding the tone and style I was looking. His adjustments to my notes on the design were excellent. An overall great experience.

How mcculloughwrites started their book cover journey
The Fallen Odyssey
Fantasy, Young Adult
"The Fallen Odyssey" is a new adult/college "portal" fantasy novel. A seventeen-year-old boy from Earth (Pennsylvania, United States) wakes up in an alternate fantasy world where his fate becomes entangled with a group of freedom fighters struggling against a mysterious enemy.
Young adult readers, fantasy fans, teen readers, fans of Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, The Magicians.
Book cover type
What colors do you want to see in your design?
The front cover will be 6 inches by 9 inches when printed.
The back cover should be the same size.
As for the spine, I don't have the exact dimensions yet, so I'll need someone who can adjust that when I have the exact numbers.
This book is the first in a trilogy. The first two books of the trilogy have previously been published with different covers. I'm re-releasing them and rebranding them with the focus on the new adult/college audience with portal fantasy and epic fantasy elements. The third book is in the process of being written. I'm going to want a single designer to do all three covers, so whoever wins this gets the next two.
Mood is dark, epic.
My blurb/book description for the back cover isn't finalized yet, so the file will need to be editable to add and revise the blurb/description.
What to avoid
Please avoid recognizable Microsoft Word fonts
I like the idea of runic figures for the title, but I no longer like the design of the crossed swords.
I like the "framed" format of this, and the way the character is looking away, into the distance.
This is the kind of "portal" I'm picturing - the fantasy world framed by the real world, with the character in the middle.
I like the silhouette, looking away, as well as the feeling of being drawn toward the distance
I like the look of silhouetted main character here, looking off into the distance
I like the deep woods shown here and the way the character seems to be in action, moving forward toward something
The environment of the fantasy world should seem dark and magical like this picture
This is a great image of the kind of forest I'm picturing - dark, ancient, forbidding.
This would be a GREAT image for the interior of the portal, but instead of the road and the brown grass, I would like grassy, green plains.
Great example of the mountains I have in mind, if you use a mountain scene for the interior of the portal (but with green grass instead of brown).
